This sterling silver pendant features an authentic Roman coin, known as an Antoninianus, dating back to the reign of Emperor Probus (276–282 AD).

The front of the coin depicts Roma, the personification of the city of Rome, seated to the left within a hexastyle temple, holding a sceptre and Victory. The inscription ROMAE AETER. (“To Eternal Rome”) celebrates the everlasting significance of Rome as the heart of the Empire.

On the reverse, the coin features a radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Probus facing left, holding a sceptre topped with an eagle. The inscription IMP PROBVS PF AVG identifies the emperor and his imperial titles.

During his reign, Probus achieved several military victories against the Goths in Asia Minor, the Alemanni in Gaul, and other invading peoples, helping to restore stability and strengthen the Roman Empire. In 280 AD, he also defeated several rivals who had challenged his authority. His reign came to a tragic end in 282 AD, when he was killed by his own soldiers in Sirmium while preparing for a campaign against the Persians.

The depiction of Roma and the inscription ROMAE AETERNAE reflect the enduring importance of Rome as a symbol of imperial authority, permanence, and glory.
