This pendant showcases a genuine Roman coin dating back to 70 B.C. This remarkable coin depicts the combined representation of Honos and Virtus, two significant figures in Roman mythology and culture.

Honos, known as Honos or Honos et Virtus, personified honor and military valor, representing the virtues and qualities esteemed by the Roman society. Virtus, on the other hand, embodied excellence, courage, and moral virtue. Both Honos and Virtus were highly revered in ancient Rome for their contributions to individual and societal well-being.

In ancient Rome, a temple dedicated to Virtus and Honos once stood in Regio I, though no remnants remain today. This temple, the first entry in the regional catalogs for Regio I, was located just outside the porta Capena, likely positioned on the northern side of the via Appia. Adjacent to the temple stood the Ara Fortuna Redux, an altar devoted to the goddess Fortuna and her role in bringing good fortune and safe return.

On the reverse side of the coin, we can observe the symbolic imagery of Rome and Italy clasping hands. This representation signifies the unity and harmony between the city of Rome and the broader Italian territories. It underscores the idea of a shared destiny and mutual support that strengthened the Roman Empire.
