Genuine Roman Silver Coin Pendant depicting "Dextrarum Iunctio"

An authentic 2nd century coin has been set on this silver pendant, depicting two hands, a caduceus and two ears of corn. Coined in the passage between the emperor Hadrian and his successor Antonino Pio, adopted by him (in the back of the coin we can see the bust of Antonino Pio) the "clasped hands" indicate full support of the army, as well as senatorial; the caduceus is a symbol of peace and of Felicitas, the ears of wheat indicate Prosperity. It's like reading a newspaper of the time... In Rome, joining the right hands of two parties, known as Dextrarum Iunctio, was a flexible motif with several connotations. Besides the themes of meeting and parting, the handclasp signified harmony, affinity, friendship, and loyalty (Tac. Hist. 1.54.1, 2.8.2). As the right hand was consecrated to the deity of fidelity, in scenes of political nature the handclasp represented political concord after a contract.
