This sterling silver pendant features an authentic Roman provincial bronze coin dating to the 2nd–3rd century AD. The obverse depicts the standing figure of Nemesis holding a pair of scales and a parazonium. On the reverse appear the portraits of Aurelius Antoninus Augustus and Julia Maesa.

In Roman religion (derived from Greek tradition), Nemesis was the goddess of retributive justice, balance, and divine vengeance against hybris (arrogance). She is commonly portrayed with symbolic attributes such as scales, representing fairness and equilibrium, and the parazonium, a short sword emphasizing her role as an enforcer of moral order. Her figure embodied the idea that every action would meet its rightful consequence, preserving harmony in the universe.

On the reverse, the presence of Aurelius Antoninus Augustus (identified with the emperor Elagabalus) and Julia Maesa, a powerful figure of the Severan dynasty, places the coin within the political and dynastic context of the Roman Empire. Julia Maesa, grandmother of Elagabalus and Severus Alexander, was one of the most influential women of her time and played a crucial role in restoring and maintaining the dynasty.

This combination of divine imagery and imperial portraiture makes the piece particularly compelling: on one side, the universal concept of justice and fate embodied by Nemesis; on the other, the earthly power represented by the imperial family. A unique jewel that brings together history, mythology, and ancient art—perfect for collectors and enthusiasts of numismatics.
