A Carthaginian bronze coin dating back to the 5th century BC, which depicts a horse with a palm in the background, has been set in this 925 silver pendant. The bust of the goddess Tanit is visible on the reverse of the coin.
The goddess Tanit, by some associated with Dido, was for the Carthaginians the goddess of fertility, love and pleasure, and was associated with good luck, the Moon and harvest.
