This stunning 18kt gold pendant features an authentic Aureus (gold Roman coin), dating back to the reign of Emperor Titus (79-81 AD). The front showcases the regal profile of Titus, while the rear presents a detailed depiction of the Roman goddess Ceres.

Front Design: The front of the coin displays a laureate head of Titus, the beloved Roman Emperor. His stern yet noble expression reflects the authority and benevolence he was known for during his short reign. Titus, the son of Emperor Vespasian, was a skilled military leader who commanded Roman legions in Germany, Britain, and later in the Jewish-Roman wars, where he famously captured Jerusalem in 70 AD. His time as emperor was marked by his compassionate rule, bringing relief to victims of natural disasters and gaining the adoration of the Roman people.

Rear Design: On the reverse, the coin features Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, fertility, and maternal care. She is depicted standing to the left, holding ears of corn and a poppy in one hand, while her other hand grasps a scepter. Ceres was venerated as the guardian of crops and the life-giving force behind all plant life and harvests, making her a symbol of sustenance and prosperity in Roman religion. Her presence on the coin signifies the emperor’s dedication to the wellbeing and fertility of the empire.

Historical Context: Titus, born in 41 AD, was the elder son of Emperor Vespasian. He served Rome loyally in numerous military campaigns, notably leading the Roman forces to victory during the Siege of Jerusalem. After his father assumed power, Titus became a close and trusted advisor, ultimately succeeding him as emperor in 79 AD. His reign, though brief, was distinguished by his generosity and care for his people, particularly during the aftermath of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the Great Fire of Rome. Titus's untimely death in 81 AD left a lasting impression on Roman history, and his coinage, such as the one featured in this pendant, remains a cherished relic of his legacy.
