Set into this sterling silver pendant is an authentic Greek bronze coin from 410 BC. depicting an owl catching a lizard. On the reverse of the coin Athena with the crested Corinthian helmet is visible.

Nocturnal bird par excellence, in Greek mythology the owl was the favorite animal of the Goddess Athena. Observing the physiognomy of its eyes and beak, the literati and philosophers of the classical age saw in it the features and contours of the letter φ (fi), a symbol of the Greek alphabet used to indicate philosophical disciplines. Inevitable, therefore, the belief that the animal was involved in everything related to the love of knowledge and research.
In Greek mythology, it was believed that the owl was a symbol of wisdom and intelligence, of understanding and solving a problem, managing with its sharp gaze to penetrate the darkness and bring the light (of knowledge).

On the reverse of the medal is the head of Athena with her helmet. The favorite daughter of Zeus, she is the Greek goddess of wisdom, the arts and warfare.
