In this exquisite sterling silver pendant, a genuine Roman coin from the 2nd century AD takes center stage. It portrays Romulus, the legendary founder of Rome, on one side, while the reverse features the stately bust of Emperor Hadrian.

According to Roman myth, Romulus and Remus, the twin brothers, were born to Rhea Silvia and the god Mars. Their grandfather, Numitor, was the rightful king of Alba Longa, tracing their lineage back to the Trojan hero Aeneas and King Latinus of Latium.

Before their heroic tale unfolded, Numitor's throne was seized by his treacherous brother, Amulius, who ordered the twins' execution by drowning in the Tiber. But fate intervened; the swollen river prevented their demise, and they were left beneath a fig tree on the Palatine Hill.

Raised by a she-wolf and later discovered by a herdsman and his wife, the brothers learned of their royal heritage. After vanquishing Amulius, they decided to create their own city.

Returning to their infant haven, they disagreed on the city's location. Attempts to divine a resolution failed, leading to a tragic end where Romulus, in anger, ended Remus' life.

This pendant encapsulates this ancient legend, preserving the spirit of Rome's founding tale.
