This sterling silver ring features an authentic Roman coin depicting Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar Octavian Augustus (commonly known as Octavian or Augustus), who is widely regarded as the founder of the Roman Empire and its first emperor, reigning for 41 years from 27 BC to 14 AD. On the reverse side of the coin, a quadriga, accompanied by a palm branch, is depicted.

Octavian, born Gaius Octavius in 63 BC, inherited the name, estate, and loyalty of Julius Caesar upon Caesar's assassination in 44 BC, as named in Caesar's will. Octavian, along with Mark Antony and Marcus Lepidus, formed the Second Triumvirate to avenge Caesar's death. Following their victory at the Battle of Philippi in 42 BC, they divided the Roman Republic among themselves, ruling as de facto dictators. However, internal conflicts arose, leading to Lepidus' exile and Octavian's victory over Antony at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC.

Afterward, Augustus restored the semblance of a republic, although he maintained autocratic power by securing lifetime tenure as commander-in-chief, tribune, and censor. He expanded the empire significantly, annexing territories such as Egypt, Dalmatia, and Hispania, while establishing diplomatic ties with the Parthian Empire. Augustus implemented various reforms, including tax restructuring, the development of road networks, and the establishment of a standing army and Praetorian Guard.

Augustus passed away in 14 AD at the age of 75, succeeded by his adopted son Tiberius. Despite persistent rumors of poisoning, Augustus' death was likely due to natural causes.
