This sterling silver ring showcases an authentic Roman coin from the 2nd century, featuring a depiction of the two-faced God Janus. Janus was revered in ancient Roman religion and myth as the god of beginnings, transitions, time, and duality. With his two faces, he symbolizes the ability to look to the future and the past. While it is commonly believed that January is named after Janus, ancient Roman farmers' almanacs attribute the tutelary deity of the month to Juno.

Janus held authority over the commencement and conclusion of conflicts, representing both war and peace. The gates of a prominent building in Rome, named in his honor, were opened during times of war and closed to signify the arrival of peace (which was a rare occurrence). As a deity associated with transitions, Janus played a role in birth, journeys, exchanges, and was linked to Portunus, a harbor and gateway god, emphasizing travel, trade, and shipping.

On the reverse side of the coin, there is a depiction of Rome standing erect, constructing a trophy as a symbol of victory.
