This sterling silver pendant, meticulously crafted by the artisans of my esteemed shop, SERRA, bears an authentic Roman coin featuring Emperor Caracalla. Designed by me and fashioned with precision, our shop has been a staple in Rome since its establishment in 1910, located at Via Margutta 57, nestled in the historic heart of the city, just a stone's throw away from the Spanish Steps.

Emperor Caracalla, formally known as Antoninus, ascended to the Roman throne in 198 AD, reigning until 217 AD. As a scion of the Severan dynasty, he was the elder son of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna. Initially co-ruling with his father from 198, Caracalla continued to share power with his brother Geta after Septimius Severus's demise in 211. However, tragedy struck when Geta was assassinated by the Praetorian Guard, purportedly at Caracalla's behest, leading to his sole reign over the Roman Empire.

Caracalla's legacy includes the commissioning of a grand public bathhouse in Rome, a marvel that endures as a prominent tourist attraction to this day. Through our pendant, adorned with a coin bearing his likeness, we pay homage to this influential figure of Roman history, showcasing the enduring allure of ancient craftsmanship and the rich cultural heritage of our beloved city.

Our jewelry store, Serra Roma, proudly presents an exquisite collection that beautifully honors the ancient traditions of Greek and Roman civilizations. Each piece in our collection, including authentic ancient Roman and Greek coins and intaglios, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, providing proof of its historical significance and origin.
