This sterling silver pendant showcases an authentic Roman coin featuring Emperor Caracalla, also known as Antoninus, who ruled from 198 to 217 AD. On the coin's reverse side is the depiction of Salus, symbolizing health. Caracalla was a member of the Severan dynasty, born as the elder son of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna. Initially serving as co-ruler with his father from 198, he later shared power with his brother Geta, who ascended to the throne in 209 following their father's demise in 211. However, the unity between the siblings was short-lived, as Geta was assassinated by the Praetorian Guard later that year, purportedly on Caracalla's orders. Subsequently, Caracalla assumed sole rulership of the Roman Empire.

Notably, Caracalla is renowned for his contributions to public infrastructure, including the commissioning of a grand public bathhouse in Rome. This bathhouse, which remains a prominent tourist attraction to this day, stands as a testament to Caracalla's legacy as a patron of monumental architecture and his significant impact on the urban landscape of ancient Rome.
