Set within this sterling silver pendant is an authentic Roman bronze coin dating back to the 4th century AD, bearing the likeness of Emperor Maxentius. Maxentius, also known as Marcus Aurelius Valerius Maxentius, ruled as Roman emperor from 306 to 312 AD. Born circa 276 AD, he was the son of former Emperor Maximian and the son-in-law of Emperor Galerius.

The latter part of Maxentius's reign was marked by turmoil and civil strife, as he found himself embroiled in a series of conflicts. He formed alliances with Maximinus II against Licinius and Constantine, leading to a pivotal confrontation at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 AD. It was during this fateful battle that Maxentius met his demise, with historical accounts suggesting that he perished as his army fled, purportedly drowning in the Tiber river.
