Encased within this 925 silver pendant lies an authentic bronze coin dating back to the 3rd century BC, featuring Poseidon, revered by the Romans as Neptune, the formidable deity of the sea. Adorning the reverse side of the coin is a trident embellished with festoons, flanked by two dolphins.

Poseidon, counted among the Twelve Olympians of ancient Greek mythology, held dominion over the sea, storms, earthquakes, and horses. In the pre-Olympian Bronze Age era, he was revered as a paramount deity in Pylos and Thebes, often bearing the title "earth shaker" due to his association with seismic activity.

In the myths of Arcadia, Poseidon is intertwined with Demeter and Persephone, with some accounts depicting him as a horse deity, although his original domain was that of the waters. He is frequently depicted as the controller or progenitor of horses, and legend has it that with a mighty strike of his trident, he brought forth springs, giving rise to the word for horse.

In Roman mythology, Poseidon finds his equivalent in Neptune, further solidifying his enduring influence across cultures and epochs.
