This 18 Kt Gold ring features an authentic Roman carnelian intaglio from the 1st-2nd century AD. The intaglio portrays Rooster and Cornucopia.

In ancient Greek and Roman societies, the rooster held significant symbolism, often associated with deities like Asclepius, Minerva, and Mars. It represented various aspects of their personalities and areas of influence, such as healing, preparedness, and combativeness. However, the god most commonly depicted with a rooster was Mercury. Like the god himself, the rooster exemplified fierceness, intelligence, and most importantly, an understanding of boundaries. By announcing the rising sun with its voice, the rooster obliterated darkness. Additionally, the rooster held sacred significance for Zeus, the king of the gods, and Apollo, the god of the sun. It symbolized renewal, fertility, and healing. Asclepius, the god of healing, would occasionally appear in the dreams of his patients in the form of a rooster.

The Cornucopia, on the other hand, was an emblem associated with several Greek and Roman deities, particularly those connected to harvest, prosperity, and spiritual abundance. In the Roman Imperial cult, abstract Roman deities that promoted peace (known as "pax Romana") and prosperity were also depicted with a Cornucopia. Notable examples include Abundantia, personification of "Abundance," and Annona, the goddess overseeing the grain supply to the city of Rome.
