On the reverse, Constantinople is depicted seated on a throne, facing left, holding a globus cruciger and a scepter.

Theodosius II (April 10, 401 – July 28, 450), son of Emperor Arcadius, ruled as Eastern Roman Emperor from 408 to 450. His long reign was marked by significant achievements, including the compilation of the Codex Theodosianus, an essential collection of Roman laws, and the completion of the famous Theodosian Walls, which made Constantinople one of the most formidable fortified cities of the ancient world. His religious policies further strengthened Christianity as the empire’s dominant faith.
