An authentic Greek bronze coin minted in Syracuse between 278 and 276 BC, during the rule of Pyrrhos (Pyrrhus) of Epirus, set in a refined sterling silver pendant.

The obverse features the head of Apollo, the god of light, the Sun, music, the arts, prophecy, and knowledge. Apollo embodies harmony, beauty, and intellectual illumination—central ideals of Greek culture during the Hellenistic period.

The reverse depicts Athena, goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare, shown with shield and thunderbolt, symbols of protection, strength, and rational power. Her image reflects Syracuse’s military and political importance as well as the city’s devotion to divine guardianship and civic intelligence.

This coin dates to the period when Pyrrhos ruled Syracuse as strategos autokrator, leading the defense of Greek Sicily against Roman and Carthaginian expansion.
