This 18 karat gold ring features an authentic Roman carnelian from the 2nd to 3rd century AD. The carnelian depicts the goddess Vesta holding a bronze tripod in her left hand, which holds the sacred fire, and a snake in her right hand.

In Roman religion, Vesta was highly revered as the goddess of the hearth in both family and state worship. The Temple of Vesta in the Roman Forum was a place of great significance, where the perpetual fire of the public hearth was attended by the Vestal Virgins.

Vesta is often depicted as a fully draped woman, sometimes accompanied by a snake or a donkey, which were her favorite animals. The temple's innermost sanctuary was only open to the public once a year during the Vestalia festival.

This ring is a unique piece of history that showcases the importance of Vesta and her sacred fire in Roman culture and mythology.
